My philosophy is, YOUR body, YOUR birth, YOUR baby!
My name is Jessica. I am based in Macksville, NSW, where I live with my husband and two sons (and the dog, cat, rabbit, fish, and horse……)
The births of my sons were two very different experiences, each teaching me valuable lessons, both about the birth process, and about myself.
The birth of my first son was incredibly traumatic to me, and I felt hugely undersupported and let down by the medical system.
The birth of my second son was a much better experience, because I’d empowered myself with knowledge, and trust within myself and in the birthing process
It was not long after the birth of my second son that my sister in law asked me to support her through her birthing experience.
She remarked how this would be the perfect ‘job’ for me, and when we discovered a Doula was an actual thing, I knew I’d found the career path destined for me.
Whilst technically doulas don’t need qualifications, I felt it was appropriate to seek training. And so began my study with the Australian Doula College.
I graduated as a Birth and Postnatal Doula in April of 2011, after attending three births as a student.
I have since furthered my training with the Stillbirthday University, USA, and in 2019 completed Angela Gallo’s Dynamo Doula ™ Training.
Since 2010 I been blessed to support many more families throughout their various pregnancy, birthing and postnatal experiences.
Moving into 2021, my services no longer include in-person birth support. Instead I am focusing on supporting new families through the postpartum period.
It is my aim to provide you with all the information you seek/require to make decisions that are right for you, because it is my firm belief that YOU are the expert when it comes to birthing and parenting your baby.
“Jessica helped put my mind at ease about a lot of the concerns I have about the up and coming birth of my third baby. She was so lovely and sweet and was able to validate my past experiences and made me feel “heard” and cared about. After our conversation, I thought “You know what? I get it. I totally get it”. I can fully recommend chatting to her, she is so kind and understanding.”
